Carolina Faith Riders is a motorcycle ministry that grew out a desire to offer local SCBC churches an additional resource to reach the lost and unchurched in their local community.

CFR is not a motorcycle club, it is a ministry that is intentionally evangelistic in its design. Our intent is to offer members of the local CFR chapter who ride motorcycles (or a desire to reach those who ride) a "tool" for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

You have heard the old saying that "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care", and that is exactly what CFR is all about. Our motorcycles are tools in God's hand and members are servants adhering to the Great Commandment to love God with all that we are and to love others the same. CFR is in a unique position to reach the lost and unchurched in the motorcycle community and our goal is to be Great Commission Christians.

Myrtle Beach Bike Week Ministry - 2011 Summary

Carolina Faith Riders Mission Under the Tent at Myrtle Beach Bike Week May 15-21, 2011 took on an all new meaning this year. The CFR partnered with the Waccamaw Baptist Association to not only meet the needs of motorcyclists but also the people of Horry County.

Rick Astle, DOM for the Waccamaw Association, put together some "out of the box" ministry opportunities for CFR. Typically the Carolina Faith Riders would spend the whole week ministering to people at the Bass Pro Shop parking lot who are visiting the Vendors to purchase motorcycle equipment and apparel. Due to the low turnout in the previous year’s CFR decided to not only minister under the tent but also in other places.

Along with reaching the motorcycle community SC Carolina Faith Riders participated in Lifeguard Ministry, Restaurant Ministry and Roadside Prayer Ministry. One of the highlights of the week was seeing the Chick-fil-A Cow sitting on State Coordinator Dwight Mobley’s Yamaha Motorcycle encouraging people to come into the Conway Chick-fil-A Restaurant and enjoy a meal on the Carolina Faith Riders, the Waccamaw Baptist Association and the South Carolina Baptist Convention.

Through the random acts of kindness the Carolina Faith Riders where able to share the Gospel with many people who came in for a meal. One lady said “you just do not know what a blessing it was to us.” Others came and asked us to pray for needs in their lives, and even some came to have a stronger faith and another to accept Christ as her Savior.

Rick Astle demonstrated a new way to show our concern and love for people by having Roadside Prayer. Carolina Faith Riders went to the Travelers Chapel on Highway 501 between Conway and Myrtle Beach and spent four hours over two days praying for people as they traveled by. Local TV Station WBTW Channel 13 covered the first day of Carolina Faith Riders Prayer. CFR member Greg Hanna who is a member of Elko Baptist Church said “We are all called to spread God’s Word. We are here to tell people what Jesus can do for them.” At this location CFR members prayed for over 5000 cars, trucks and buses in two afternoon. As the CFR members prayed people would blow the horn, many waved and some gave thumbs up. One local lady found CFR members in a restaurant eating and shared with them what a blessing it was to have seen someone who cared enough for her to stand on the side of the road and pray for her. She had had a really bad day and this act of random kindness made a difference in her day.

One of the forgotten people so often at the beaches is those who serve us. The Life Guards. The Waccamaw Baptist Association has a ministry to these young men and ladies. Many of the Life Guards are from other countries and have never heard the Gospel. This week CFR took water, sun screen and an invitation to a free meal sponsored by the Waccamaw Baptist Association. Each life Guard was grateful for the time that was spent with them.

The Mission Under the Tent at Bass Pro Shop was a great success as well. CFR had many who came to the tent to see the Hearse carrying a casket draped with the US Flag. The Hearse was the idea of CFR Member Bob Bowman from Florence SC. Placed inside the Hearse was a sign with the question, Last Ride to Eternity. Do You Know Your Final Destination? This caused people to look at their lives and many gave CFR Members the opportunity to tell them about Christ. Smiling Joe and Jennifer are only two of many that came to know Christ through this experience. Others came in and were prayed for. On Friday one lady from New Jersey came in wanting prayer for herself as she faced surgery when she went back home. She left with tears in her eyes as CFR Members embraced her with the love of Jesus Christ. Not only did CFR Members minister and witness to patrons of Bike Week, but there is always a great need to minister and witness to the vendors of the event. Jennifer was one of those vendors who gave her life to Jesus Christ on Monday May 16. Many vendors are Christians and are not home very often. It was a blessing and encouragement to them as CFR Members daily went by and prayed for them.

As long as there are Bikers and a Bike Week the Carolina Faith Riders will be found at the Beach telling the Good News of Jesus Christ. South Carolina Faith Riders is an Auxiliary of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and thankful for the support they receive from the Convention and the opportunity to minister alongside the Waccamaw Baptist Association. If you are interested in starting a chapter in your local church you can go to www.scfaithriders.org. Also there you can find more information about all CFR does and pictures of the 2011 Myrtle Beach Bike Week.
